Eston Show 2022

Trophies

  • Rose Bowl Floating Trophy – Donated by the Eston/Mid Illovo/Powerscourt Women’s Institute. This trophy is awarded to the exhibitor gaining the highest aggregate in the floral section.
  • Diana Bense Floating Trophy – Donated by Mrs D Bense to the exhibitor gaining the most points in the advanced section.
  • Powerscourt Women’s Institute Floating Trophy – Donated by the Powerscourt Women’s Institute to the exhibitor gaining the most points in the Intermediate section.
  • Waverley Store/Fay Smith Floating Trophy – Donated in memory of Mrs F Smith to the exhibitor gaining the most points in the Novice section.
  • EM Byrne Floating Trophy – Donated in memory of Mrs E Byrne for the “Best on Show” in the floral section.

Floral Regulations

  • Entries to be handed in to Olivia Smith by 17h00 on Monday 19th August 2024.
  • Staging of arrangements will be from 12h00 on Thursday 22nd August 2024.
  • Judging takes place at 09h00 on Friday 23rd August 2024.

Floral Show Rules

  • An exhibit is made of plant material, with or without accessories, within a space specified in the show schedule.
  • Plant material must predominate over all other components of the exhibit.
  • The use of artificial plant material is forbidden unless stated in the class regulations.
  • Fresh plant material must be in water or in water-retaining material, with the exception of succulents and certain long lasting plant material.
  • Painted and/or artificially coloured plant material may be used unless otherwise stated in the class regulations.
  • Exhibits which exceed the allocated space will be downgraded.
  • Dried, Bleached, Preserved & Skeletonised plant material will be considered natural.
  • Exhibitors are responsible for the neatness of their space & the removal of all debris.

Novice Section:

  • Class 1: Something for Granny
  • Class 2: Fruits of my Garden
  • Both classes staged on a table provided – space provided 80cm wide x 70cm deep. Viewed and judged from the front.

Intermediate Section:

  • Class 3: Tones & Textures
  • Class 4: Jungle Fever
  • Both classes staged on a table provided – space provided 80cm wide x 70cm deep. Viewed and judged from the front.

Advanced Section:

  • Class 5: Whirlwind of Life
  • Class 6: Let’s get Wild
  • Staged on a grey palette 1m x 1m and a grey metal stand provided 29cm x 29cm x 90cm high. Height unlimited. Viewed and judged from the front.

Open Section:

  • Class 7: Woven
  • Class 8: Designs Escape me
  • Staged on a grey palette 1m x 1m and a grey metal stand provided 29cm x 29cm x 90cm high. Height unlimited. Viewed and judged from the front.

CHILDREN’S FLORAL SECTION

Entries to be in by Monday 19th August 2024.

Sms your child’s name, age group and theme to : Olivia Smith – 082 905 0440.

  • Arrangements to be done AT the Eston Club by the children before 12h00 on Thursday 22nd August 2024.
  • Judging will take place at 09h00 on Friday 23rd August 2024.
  • No late entries will be accepted.
  • Exhibition tables will be marked with child’s name according to themes entered.

PLEASE NOTE FOR JUNIOR SECTIONS: Parents are unfortunately not allowed to help their children in the Junior sections. There will be sufficient adults around to assist them. All of your own flowers and oasis to be brought with each entrant.
