Chairlady’s Message 2023

ByonwithComments Off on Chairlady’s Message 2023

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the 69th annual Eston Show.

A phrase that keeps coming up in conversation during our meetings and planning leading up to the show is “it’s for the good of the community”. When speaking to our fathers about what they can remember what the essence of the show in those early days was, always comes back as “the show is a platform for our local community and entrepreneurs to have the opportunity to fundraise and showcase their entities to our neighbouring communities” Growing up in Eston, I really treasure the word community – what a special thing to be able to be apart of something so much more then just yourself. Not many people can understand this or gasp the fact how rare it is these days to still have such a tight knit community. This is also a reflection that we can reach amazing milestones, this year is a special one for our little school – Happy 70th birthday, we wish you many more successful years ahead.

We have tried to ensure that we implement this phrase in everything we have prepared for you over the course of the weekend. What better way then starting with this evening, the official show opening. August in Eston is a very busy month with lots of action on the calendar. So, we want to take the opportunity to give back and provide you all with an evening to enjoy and give thanks. We couldn’t get through a busy month without the support of each other. Pat yourselves on the back, as you all deserve it after the hard work you have all put in to getting this weekend ready.

This evening we bring you a night of wining and dining and what better way to do that then by supporting some local businesses who the owners themselves grew up in Eston. We love to support local and what better way then by welcoming Brad O’Neill from Sugarbaron and Cindy Kidger from Bush Hill Cheese. They have a fantastic array for wine and cheeses for you to indulge in. Thank you to you both and your teams for being apart of this evening.

Then we look at our broader community. The companies we do business with on a day-to-day basis, those that have this special community in their hearts. We couldn’t pull off the this show without our wonderful sponsors, Nedbank, Farmers Agri Care, Finningley, Mascor, Kynoch, Lincoln Haven and CNH Industrial. Thank you for coming on board for either a consecutive year or for the first time. We are always grateful to you. We extend our thanks to all the other companies that have sponsored either prizes, time, or equipment for the duration of the show. If you have a moment this evening, please take a look at our sponsorship board and just see how many people have taken time to contribute towards the weekend in some way.

We have a fantastic line up for the weekend; live music, performances from our school kids & outreach program and so much more. This evening we look forward to hearing some insightful words from both Nedbank & Farmers Agri Care and after that a win over the kiwis will really set the tone for a festive weekend.

Lastly a few extra special thanks that need to be mentioned. Our community prefects, the BEFA Exec, thank you for entrusting this weekend on my committee and I. I especially would like to thank chairman Roger de Billot and Wynne Smith for your unwavering support and mentorship you have shown me during my time as show chairlady. There are honestly not enough words to express my gratitude to your both. And I promise, lastly, my amazing committee. Without the five of you we really wouldn’t be here this evening, so thanks to Belinda Love, Steve Keyser, Chelsea Stiebel, Candice & Roger Cox. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we can finally sit back and watch all our efforts enjoyed by everyone

Chairlady’s Message 2022

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you for joining us for the opening of the 2022 Eston Show.

After a 2 year break due to Covid, we are excited to finally host a show again. As our BEFA Chairman, Roger de Billot mentioned this is the 68th year and as far back as I can tell this break has been the first – what an innings that is. We are able to achieve this due to our amazing community. Earlier this year at our BEFA AGM, I spoke to the district about what my team and I would like to achieve this year and that was “togetherness”. Not only have we been faced with Covid, but we have also experienced a devastating fire, riots and more recently floods. We wanted to ensure this weekend was about bringing our community together and celebrating our wins the past 2 years rather than the losses.

We have a great line up of talented musicians & bands over the duration of the weekend. For the more active we have a motorbike ride, trail ride & horse ride. For the more relaxed a generous beer garden and food selection. Helicopter flips for the adrenalin seekers and window shopping for the big spenders.

Our talented members have put on a wonderful display of floral art, kids’ art, and photography. We are thrilled to welcome back the open auction with a huge variety of amazing items up for grabs. Most importantly are our stand holders, what a variety of new innovative ideas for the agriculture sector and let’s not forget our fun family show and tug of war competition.

A weekend like this would not be possible without a wonderful support team, please bear with me as I take a moment to thank them:

Firstly to our main sponsors Nedbank & Farmers Agri-Care, without your generosity and continued support over the years this show wouldn’t be possible. To Finningley Insurance, Pro-Tect Turbo Chargers, Lincoln Haven Retirement Village, Mayo Macs, and Sanlam for generously jumping on board this year. To our BEFA members that contributed towards the weekend entertainment and to all the businesses that so willingly contributed towards prizes.

To the community for always embracing the craziness of this week. Our following entities which use this platform as a fundraising event: The Eston Club, Eston School, Nippers Pre-school, and our little Fireflies playgroup. Thank you and your teams for proving an integral part of the show.

I would personally like to thank Mark Boast our Club Chairman and Roger de Billot our BEFA Chairman for your vote of confidence in myself and my team. You have always been a call away for any advice and assistance.

Lastly my amazing committee; Belinda, Shaun, Stephen, Chelsea, and Candice. Without you I would not have made it too today. I appreciate you all. Now we get to “semi” sit back and watch our amazing community and our wider community enjoy the weekend.

It’s showtime again!!!! The Nedbank Eston Show will be taking place for the 63rd year at the Beaumont Eston Farmers Club on the 26th & 27th August 2017.

We are proud to announce that Nedbank is once again our Title sponsor and have become an integral part of the show over the years. We are fortunate enough as a community to have a dedicated and hardworking team at Nedbank, led by Barry Phillip, who is continually coming up with new ways in which to keep the show at the forefront with new technology. The latest being the Masterpass system, whereby exhibitors, as well as the public, can simply download an app which allows them to transact by the simple scan of the individual’s unique barcode, whereby reducing the cash risk.

We are also excited to have Farmers Agri-Care on board as a sponsor this year. Farmers Agri-care has been supplying chemicals to the farmers in our district for many years. Many wonderful friendships have developed over the years and we are extremely grateful to have them as a part of the show as well as for their generosity and contribution they have shown towards our community and this event.

Not only is the show a place where families can come for the weekend and enjoy what we have to offer, but it is a vital platform for the various stakeholders in our district to use as a fundraising opportunity which we rely heavily upon. Thank you to all those people who come to Eston and support us whether you might be an exhibitor or a guest just visiting us for the day, we are truly grateful.

Our entertainment lineup is as jammed packed as usual, with live music in the beer garden in the afternoon and late into the night in the main marquee, various arena events that promise to keep the crowd entertained for the whole weekend, a revamped tea garden and delicious food will be available the entire weekend.

As is our promise to look for new ways in which to improve the show, we have included for the first time, a trail run, which will take place on Sunday 27th August starting at 8:30 AM over a very do-able 5km and 12km course. Registration will be from 7 AM, you can register on ROAG or late entry on the day. For more details visit our website www.theestonshow.co.za.

We will host an “open-air” pop-up market on Sunday in addition to the flea market as well as a second-hand sale on farming equipment. Come and join us for a festive, fun-filled weekend for the whole family!

The time has come for the 62nd Eston Show, taking place on the 27th & 28th August, sponsored once again by Nedbank Business Banking. The show and Nedbank have built up a valued relationship that has spanned nearly 10 years, and we are very grateful for their ongoing loyalty and support.

This year we are pleased to confirm, for the first time in the shows history, Farm Ag as our official secondary sponsor to Nedbank, Farm Ag are making huge inroads in our district and we are pleased to have them come on board. We look forward to working with them in the future.

The Nedbank Eston Show has come a long way over the years. We are consciously and continuously looking for ways to make the event even more appealing to the whole family and this year is no different. My committee have been hard at work to produce an action packed, family friendly line-up for all to enjoy.

The kid’s entertainment will take place once again on the cricket field adjacent to the show grounds and boasts a wide range of entertainment for children of all ages.

Our craft marquee is bigger and better than before and this year will support the local Eston Primary School’s art and flower section as well as the popular Photography section. To view the various categories under the photography section please visit our website. There is also an antique-style market to enjoy, not to mention the open auction, which always draws a crowd and gets rather rowdy just before the hammer comes down.

The very popular Beer Garden is happening once again, with live music and refreshingly cold draught beer served by Robson’s Breweries. As usual, the Tea Garden, which serves delicious teas, treats and meals all weekend long, is not to be missed.

This year we are pleased to announce that five times SAMA nominated, MTV MAMA Award winning band, Gangs of Ballet, will be performing live, as our headline act on Saturday evening.  Tickets will be sold at the gate.

Come and join us for a festive, fun-filled weekend for the whole family!

We are looking forward to seeing you all in Eston at the end of August. Please visit our website www.theestonshow.co.za, for our full entertainment line-up and other information about what’s on offer.

Chairman’s Message 2015

This year see’s the running of the 61st year of the Nedbank Eston Show, hosted by the Beaumont Farmers Association and sponsored once again by Nedbank. Nedbank have been loyal title sponsors of the show since 2009. Their continued support and generosity towards the show, as well as the community, for that matter certainly don’t go unnoticed. A huge thank you must go to Barry Philip and his team who have worked tirelessly in putting together this year’s show….. Keeping this in mind Barry has assured me that Nedbank’s loyalty and commitment towards the show will remain for at least a few more years.

A few minor adjustments to this year’s show have taken place, the Arts and Craft marquee has been moved back to its original position on the South Side of the show grounds as well as the building of the permanent ablution facilities, for this, one must thank BEFA for this new improvement to the show ground.

Being an Agricultural show, the Nedbank Eston Show is primarily designed for those businesses in the agricultural sector to show off their products and services to the farmers and the local communities, however, a considerable amount of effort has been placed in the past few years to make the Nedbank Eston Show an occasion for the whole family, with the Craft and Flea market, Antique style market, all day entertainment in the main arena as well as an entire action packed sports field dedicated to children’s entertainment and not to mention great food as well as beer and tea gardens. Once again, there will be great live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday, with live bands playing in the beer garden and “Cat like Thieves” playing on Saturday evening. This year, instead of the ever popular fashion show, the Eston locals will be acting in a few numbers from their recent production “Rock Circus” –NOT to be missed…… Have a look at our website
www.theestonshow.co.za for the full entertainment schedule.

The social bike ride will take place once again this year, with each bike entry receiving a complimentary ticket to enter the show, please support this initiative by bringing along your family to enjoy the day with us.

The official opening and prize giving will take place on Friday 28th August at 18h30 in the main marquee, with guest speakers from Nedbank Business Banking.
The Nedbank Eston Show finds itself conveniently situated between Pietermaritzburg (20min drive) and Durban (45min drive) along the R603.

Come join us for a fun filled weekend for all!!!
